BIOGRAPHY

Angel Luis de la Rosa González was born in 1971 in Santiago de Cuba. He studied at the Academia de Artes Plasticas Jose Joaquin Tejada in Santiago, where he developed as both a sculptor and an art teacher. In 2009, he chose political freedom and settled permanently on Curaçao, where he has since played a central role in the local art world. His work is deeply personal — the human figure is the common thread, not as an ideal but as a carrier of inner feelings. Characteristic is his use of natural materials: from a tree trunk he carves chairs in which the backrest takes on the shape of the human figure. The names he gives his sculptures reveal the same depth. According to Gallery Alma Blou, his creative process has truly taken flight — the feeling he gives his work is tangible and unmistakable. Since 2012, he has exhibited regularly at Gallery Alma Blou on Curaçao.
