BIOGRAPHY

Miryam Monasterio is a Venezuelan-born artist, specialising in glass art. She graduated as a decorator and designer in Caracas, and also holds a degree in graphic design from the School of Visual Arts ‘Rafael Monasterios’. She has followed numerous workshops in glasswork. Her work is highly dynamic. Glass is a versatile medium — it can transmit, absorb or reflect light, and all these qualities are present in her work. She works with both smooth and rough surfaces to create depth and contrast. In addition to her own practice, Miryam teaches glasswork workshops. Works by her students have also been exhibited at Gallery Alma Blou.
