BIOGRAPHY

Ellen Spijkstra is a Dutch-born artist working in ceramics and photography. Born in Hattem, the Netherlands, in 1957, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Minerva in Groningen and later at the School for American Craftsman of the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. She has lived and worked in Curaçao from 1980–1985 and since 1986. Her work has been presented in exhibitions across the Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and the United States, and is represented in public collections in Curaçao, the Netherlands, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Macedonia.
