BIOGRAPHY
Yubi Kirindongo is a self-taught Curaçaoan visual artist and sculptor known for transforming discarded and industrial materials into powerful works of art. His shiny bumper sculptures first brought him wide recognition, combining strong forms with a distinctive sense of humor.
Kirindongo was the first Dutch Antillean artist invited to present a solo exhibition at Museum Beelden aan Zee in The Hague. The exhibition became the museum’s best attended since its opening in 1994. His monograph, published in three languages, sold out twice.
His creative process is intuitive and experimental. Materials collected and sorted in his yard become the starting point for works assembled, rearranged, and transformed through improvisation.
