BIOGRAPHY
Julie Kooijman-Pieler is an Argentine-born artist based in Curaçao, where she has lived for more than four decades and developed a distinguished artistic practice centered on ceramics and painting. Originally trained in chemistry, she combined technical knowledge with artistic exploration to establish a multidisciplinary career encompassing ceramics, porcelain painting, painting, and stained-glass work.
Her artistic journey began under the guidance of Solange Gravenhorst, then Curaçao’s leading ceramics instructor. Through advanced training in the United States, England, and the Netherlands, she refined her ceramic techniques and expanded her artistic vocabulary. Over the years, she has exhibited extensively in Curaçao and has contributed to the development of the local arts community through both her studio practice and teaching activities.
