BIOGRAPHY
Lucia Trifan is an abstract and impressionistic painter whose vibrant work depicts Caribbean life through color, people, birds, fish, and nature. Born in Romania in 1949, she studied ceramics and sculpture before emigrating in 1979 via West Germany. She moved to the Caribbean in 1984 and settled in St. Maarten. Her work combines deliberately primitivist storytelling, realism, and a contemporary style, with cultural setting playing a central role. She has exhibited across the Caribbean, including St. Maarten, St. Martin, St. Barths, Saba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Anguilla, and Nevis, as well as in the Netherlands.
