BIOGRAPHY
Otmar Jennie began his career as a ceramicist. He learned mould-making from Lenn Gillen and worked at Keramos from its early years. When the company later relocated and became Arawak Kraft Products, he served as its principal mould-maker, producing locally made souvenirs.
After Arawak Craft Products closed, he joined Kas di Alma Blou, where he specialized as a picture framer.
When Kas di Alma Blou moved to Landhuis Habaai, Jennie gained a much larger workspace. Encouraged in developing his talent and explore new approaches, he began by creating small items for the souvenir shop. He soon became fascinated by cement and the possibilities the material offered.
Jennie has a highly creative approach and enjoys experimenting by combining cement with other materials as decorative elements for his monumental sculptures. His imaginative sculptures often feature animals and human figures. Nowadays he is a well-known artist, sought after for his one way or the other, funny sculptures that are displayed in many gardens in Curaçao and abroad.
