BIOGRAPHY

Anguine Hodge is a self-taught painter from Curaçao. Early in his career, he worked primarily with acrylic paint on panels before moving to canvas. A keen observer, Hodge is known for a direct, narrative painting style characterized by bright primary colors. His scenes evoke Curaçao’s intense sunlight, arid landscapes, of cacti, and thorn trees. He portraits people interacting cheerfully and energetically against the island’s natural and architectural settings. Rich in detail, his works depict activities from everyday life as well as traditional folk stories.
