BIOGRAPHY
Born in Curaçao, Marjon is a child of two cultures. When she was 15, her parents repatriated to the Netherlands. There she completed teacher training in needlework subjects (Akte NA).
She was never able to say goodbye to “her” Curaçao, and from 1988 onward she returned regularly. She kept her memories alive by incorporating materials she brought with her, such as shells and calabash, into her creations, but especially by painting the leaves of the Dreifi di Laman (sea grape).
In October 2002, Marjon settled permanently on the island again.
Her creativity developed further as she began to explore mosaic, and in recent years especially ceramics. She sometimes combines these two techniques, often in dialogue with nature. For both techniques, color and natural forms are an important starting point, with our colorful island as the foundation.
