BIOGRAPHY
Omar Sling is a Curaçao-based multimedia artist whose practice spans sculpture, painting, ceramics, graphic design, music, and recycling art. His early interest in making developed through decorating his home with objects fashioned from calabashes, painted bottles, drawings, and other handmade works. Technical training, music, and collaborative wall-painting projects further shaped his practical and creative approach.
After studying multimedia design at the Graphic Lyceum of Amsterdam, Sling returned to Curaçao in 2007 and worked in graphic design and publishing. In 2010, he presented his work publicly in an exhibition at Kas di Kultura, establishing his professional artistic practice. Sustainability, resourcefulness, and education are central to his work. Through VivaKids, he teaches children to construct and play musical instruments made from discarded materials. His practice also includes the Koko Yoko sculpture series and public artworks made from reused materials.
