BIOGRAPHY

Wilson Garcia is a visual artist and art educator whose principal passion is oil painting. His work is inspired by people—their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. His figurative paintings use warm colours and invite communication in both universal human and more specific contexts.
Painting is a continuous search for Garcia. Forms move from sharp to diffuse, or the reverse. Within this movement, form and colour, figure and surroundings merge into an emerging mystical atmosphere. He allows the images to speak for themselves and tell their own stories in their own language.

Garcia taught visual arts at Akademia Pedagógiko Kèrsou. From 1974 to 1978, he also worked as a teacher-coordinator at the Curaçao Academy of Fine Arts, and from 1985 to 1995 he worked as a teacher. Between 1972 and 1981, he designed several series of postage stamps commissioned by the Postal Service of the Netherlands Antilles.
